Interview Experience

"The program sent an itinerary a couple of days before the interview. There was an informational meeting a week or two before the interview to cut out that hour or so from the interview day, which took place in the evening (4:30-6:00ish). They sent a $25 gift card to the place of your choice: Uber Eats, Grub Hub, or DoorDash for a resident social/dinner at 6:00 following the interview. In reality it was just a Q&A where no one ate because we had no time to place orders. I had three 20-minute sessions, one with a faculty member and two with residents (PGY-2). The PD and assistant PD participated, but I was with the third faculty member. The faculty member seemed to sort of be winging it, didn't seem to have looked over my application. Asked me to tell me about my professional goals, maybe a couple of follow up questions I don't remember, but most of the session was me asking questions of her. The residents had read over my whole application and led with that - "What are highlights from your application you want me to take away?" and - "With all of your activities in school, how did you maintain life/work balance?" (also, "What's your learning style?" and "What was the last novel you read?") After that it was mostly conversational and questions from me. During the social, the residents were very open to answering questions, and they all seemed to enjoy each other and the program. Lots of opportunities to drive your own education and get procedural experience."

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
