Interview Experience

"Interview was very relaxed. Day started with program director giving us a powerpoint presentation on the program. Next we were given a tour of the hospital which is really nice and big. The resident was very helpful and answered all of our questions. There are 4 different sites to do your clincs at. We were able to see 2 of them. Once you match you are able to request which one you prefer depending on what type of experience you want (rural, suburban etc). We went to a restaurant for lunch and then we had 3 interviews each in the afternoon. It was very relaxed and was basically just a conversation trying to get to know you. The staff was very friendly. I really liked this program. Even though it is opposed, it has so much to offer. The residents I spoke to don't even feel having other residents in the hospital is a disadvantage. They are very clinic heavy in the 1st year compared to other FM programs. I don't think they are very IMG friendly, as half the class comes straight from their med school through a program that allows them to start their internship in their 4th year of med school. There are only a couple IMGs. Area is very quiet and cheap. Extremely affordable. It's a college town so there are lots of local places to eat and hang out at. This program is also ranked in the top ten of all FM programs in the country."

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
