Since UHIMRP began in 1975, they have trained hundreds of highly-skilled Internal Medicine specialists. While the strength of UHIMRP has traditionally been its emphasis on General Internal Medicine and Ambulatory Care, our graduates have gone on to a variety of activities, including primary care in Hawai‘i, other parts of the United States and in other countries, fellowships in every subspecialty in programs throughout the country, Hospitalist positions, academic medicine, and research.

"1. 30-minute interview with 1 of 5 higher-ups (can be APD or "firm director"), in my case it was a primary care doctor. Asked about my clinical experiences in my home country and Hawaii, about my research experience, about my experience with a patient or patient's family member who was not pleased with my management. She started asking me "do you have any questions for me" 15 minutes into the interview. 2. 15-minute interview with chief resident, asked why this program, my career goals, my clinical experiences in Hawaii. He was very nice. 3. 1-hour Q&A with residents on Zoom 4. 30-minute group interview with program director, each person gave a brief self-introduction and could ask 1 question, program director did most of the talking about how the program is a good place to train and can satisfy our career goals. He talked about how they will open up an in-house GI fellowship. No medical questions asked."
