"4-hour long interview with Zoom cameras turned on throughout the whole interview. Exhausting due to the length (the 16 applicants that day somehow managed to keep conversation going continuously for 4 hours together), but was quite conversational. We started the interview by debating with each other and the program director about whether Chicago pizza or New York pizza was better, and that really described the rest of the interview's casual vibe. Involved meet and greet with 3 residents (one from each year in PGY 1-3), group interview with 4 applicants + program director, 1:1 interview with chief resident for 20 minutes, and 1:1 interview with PD for 3 minutes at the end. No medical questions asked, they mainly asked behavioural medical questions and wanted to know a lot about your hobbies. The group interview format was interesting, where each applicant gives a 3-5 minute self-introduction speech about their work experiences and hobbies. Then the other applicants and the PD took turns asking the applicant further questions about their speech. Both the PD and chief resident really want to get to know you as a person, not just as a medical student/doctor. They asked many specific questions about my research project. Was very fond of this program afterwards due to their subsidised housing opportunities (1000 USD a month for a 1-bedroom apartment right next to the hospital in downtown Chicago) and their super friendly vibe."

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
