Interview Experience
NEW

"No medical questions asked. Had a pre-interview meet and greet with two residents and 10 applicants, for 1 hour, 1 day before interview day. At the start of interview day, there was a 15 minute information session + group Q&A session with PD. Then 20 minutes of individual interview with PD, very conversational, mostly assessing the applicant's vibe instead of asking specific questions. He commented an object in my camera background and my geographic location. 20 minutes of individual interview with core faculty member, who asked several common interview questions (self introduction, why this program, strengths, weaknesses, what you don't like to deal with at work, frustrating moment either in or outside of work). Placed a lot of emphasis on multi-disciplinary collaboration and flexibility. They mentioned great GI and hematology/oncology learning opportunities for residents who want fellowship elsewhere (24-hour GI call with various routine and emergency endoscopies, MRCPs, ERCPs, GI case reports, Karmanos Cancer Institute rotation opportunities.) Went reasonably well for my first interview."

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
