Interview Experience

"On January 3, 2017 - I have gotten my IV for the OBG program at RUMC. Instantly contacted to the program coordinator and my IV was scheduled on January 20, Friday. Current residents are offered pre-interview dinner - PGY-3 and PGY-1 arrived. We were 6 applicants. General conversation about the program. PGY-1 looked more exhausted because she said she reviewed about 30 patients in GYN clinic today. PGY-3 was more confident, energetic and very kind. She spoke about operations, CS, vaginal and robotic surgeries... Next morning we met at RUMC entrance in front of Starbucks shop at 7-00 AM - two more applicants showed up. (They were absent on pre-interview dinner) - IV day was very organized. All applicant except me were US graduates. During the conversation one of them said that she has gotten 16 OBG IV and two of them she is even not gonna rank - I was shocked :( ... IV started with Grand Round - preeclampsia lecture. I was able to answer and ask questions. After lecture quick tour to the main education building. About 30-minute introduction from the Program director and our actual IV started around 10-00 AM. Each of us was interviewed by Resident, Faculty Member, and Program director, about 15 minutes each, Resident PGY-4 asked me more challenging questions than anybody else, I think it was longer one. Shortest was with Program director - I am not sure how it works....general question about your background, why our program, what would be future plans. We were also was given to solve a case - I have gotten - Ectopic pregnancy management wrote it on given paper in my best handwriting and drove some charts... Another tour to OBGYN department, lunch was offered at the end and 2 applicants including me showed an interest to see resident housing. Program coordinator took us to another building inside the hospital territory. IV finished around 2-00 PM. It was a great day! I hope I will match here. God Bless our dream! Thank you!"

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
