Interview Experience

"Great experience overall. The program does not pay for the hotel stay but I highly recommend staying at the holiday inn which is literally next door, 1 minute away. There was supposed to be a dinner before but it was canceled due to snow conditions. The interview day started at 8:30 and ended at 4. The program is a 6-6-6. The residents seem very happy. They spend time at GUH, WHC, VAMC for their inpatient, outpatient and medicine. There is no night float system for interns but second year seem tough according to residents. I had an interview with the PD which lasted over half an hour and the other with an attending which lasted the same amount of time. They were both approachable. The attending asked me very ethical questions but in a very friendly manner. Overall I liked the very friendly environment, attendings seemed approachable. I liked the fact that you get exposed to a little bit of everything. Trauma, PTSD, women's health clinic, HIV psych, working with undergrad students. they have a mood and anxiety clinic which is my interest. They are very strong in CL service especially second year which add to the stress of the second year resident. The hospital itself(GUH) is ok, i have seen better inpatient units, they don't have a psych ER. You cannot admit or discharge a patient without attending approval. At the end of the day, it's georgetown, it's DC which I love so we'll see."

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
