"CATEGORICAL!! Accept 5/year (small, focus on their on-on-one training, but still a lot of autonomy, esp with independent call). Very friendly across the board (PD, faculty, residents)...Seem eager for feedback if you're going to rank them high. Very fun group - Do lots of activities, both work-related and non-work related. "Work hard, play hard" mentality. New Orleans - energetic, vibrant, tons of festivals, good food, a medium cost of living, close to dad and Mark, some outdoor activities, and decent weather all year. 1 ESIR spot, mini fellowships, only offer IR and MSK fellowships, so there's little to no competition with fellows. 2-3 months of 4th year electives. Broad range of sites (VA, women's, children's, etc.), so broad range of exposure, high volume. They are transitioning to a new facility in 2024, so it could be a bit of a stressful time as they adjust, but overall, it should be a good thing (more state-of-art equipment, etc.). Formal mentoring (get paired with both a resident and a faculty member), have a resident and fellow peer congress that advocates for the residents and brings up concerns/recommendations - Admin and attendings are very responsive. Hours are decent, usually 7:30-anywhere between 4 and 6. Residents make their own schedule, just have to make sure all shifts are covered. The call is okay, with a lot of independence. No moonlighting, but they're working on it. Additional options to take extra call to help sometimes. Good wellness program/focus - Free gym right next door that's brand new. Only requirement is 1 QI project, but most people do some research too. Lots of teaching opportunities. (+) educational stipend. Small fee for parking at the hospital but otherwise free. $125/month for food that's good everywhere but VA, but VA has a good snack room. Good vaca - 5 weeks/year, always get one week, either Christmas or New Year's. Prelim year: IM, unfortunately. It is set up as 5-week blocks, one of which is always done in IR. 8 patient/resident cap. "Call" means you're there from like 7-7. 3-4 months on wards and 2-3 months of electives. Vaca time is the same as above. Lots of social events. Residents didn't seem to think it was too bad. Def work hard but is manageable and can still have a life. Two of the interviewers referenced specific things from a letter of recommendation and from one of my experiences. All are super friendly. All seemed to give positive vibes/feedback for my chances. Very pet-friendly and fun. One resident interviewer is an IMG. Overall rating: 9.8-9.9/10 "

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
