Interview Experience

"Pros: - PD said he can accommodate Shabbos – Dr. Daniel Eisenberg who writes about making shomer Shabbos residency programs is on staff there - Good volume - No fellows - Have ESIR - I think I made a good impression on the PD - PD is super nice, funny, and seems caring - Level 1 trauma, and transplant center - Have independent call - Good fellowship match - One big reading room for everyone – facilitates interdisciplinary communication - 8 residents across Einstein philly and east norington that are in the same call pool so said take short call in 2nd year only 1x per 2 weeks - Can take vacation days individually – good for yom tov - Lots of opportunities to do procedures - Start at 8 am - Have dedicated 30 minutes of lunch after noon conference - Have an associated prelim medicine program that you can choose to match in automatically if you match into the radiology residency – so only need to move once - Philly has a robust frum community - Don’t really have to travel between hospitals except for CHOP for peds radiology - Affordable housing outside of the city centre (which I don’t really want to live there anyways) - There are trails and parks where residents live, also you’re by the water Cons: - Call is busy - Not an academic center - Start buddy call in 1st year as well as weekend plain film call in 1st year - Some interviews were a bit awkward - Assist chair told me that the mammo department has gone to change and might be weaker but the APD said it shouldn’t be an issue - Far from our parents "

"The night before, the residents did a Q&A for the interview candidates. The morning of, the program coordinator shared a little bit about the program while waiting for the Program Director to give a powerpoint presentation about the program. We then moved into a waiting room with the other candidates and had the chance to chat with each other and occasionally with the program coordinator. We interviewed with the PD, faculty and the program coordinator. "
